Local alternative-rock band StereoViolet and American fashion designer Anastasia Chatzka have teamed up to host a one-time music, fashion and visual art show aimed at highlighting female contributions in music, art, fashion and design. The event will be held upstairs at Subterranean on August 23, 2017, and will feature live musical performances by female-led StereoViolet and DoubleSpeak as well as a runway fashion show and popup boutique featuring original fashion designs by Anastasia Chatzka.

The event will also feature visual art and projection displays by O’REN BLACK, a design and visual art company founded by StereoViolet vocalist, Bianca B. Black, dance routines by Jac and the Moe-ettes, and plenty of free, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind goodies as well as opportunities to take photos with the fashion models. Further complimenting the night will be live sets by DJ Pauly and visual art displays by Jonny Urban.

“We really wanted to showcase the contributions of strong females in the fields of music, art, and fashion, and we couldn’t think of a better way to do this than by throwing an event that combines all of these worlds into one,” said event co-organizer, Ronen Morris.

StereoViolet

Most people aren’t afraid of the dark. They’re afraid of what they might see if someone turns on the lights. StereoViolet embraces the dark and the darkness of the world we live in. It’s not about finding the light. It’s about adjusting our eyes to see what’s always been there. And that is precisely what StereoViolet forces us to do. Powered by the commanding yet melodic vocals of frontwoman Bianca B. Black, THE RISE AND FALL OF O’REN BLACK, the debut album from the Chicago-based indie-rock band, is an unapologetic admission of life and the forces that drive us. It’s not a collection of love songs. They are songs of lust and life, and they tell the uncompromised story of the human journey – a journey of monsters and heroes, trials and errors, mistakes and redemption, and hope and despair. Drawing from an infinite array of personal experiences and a vast pool of musical influences and styles, StereoViolet pushes the line between music and art and fuses together the distinct sounds of each member’s eclectic background to produce a powerful and unforgettable experience. We are reminded that in the cages of our minds, we are all free. And in the solace of our freedom, we are all slaves. From the emotionally driven and introspective lyrics that transcend the band’s personality, to the jarring guitar riffs and powerful instrumentation that tell the part of the story that words cannot, StereoViolet delivers a brutally honest account of what it means to be human. Each note is a testament to life lived. Each chord a tribute to the frailty of the human mind and spirit. Each song a crushing reminder of who we are. StereoViolet isn’t a band for those looking to feel good about themselves. It’s a band for those who aren’t afraid to see themselves and are ready to adjust their eyes to the darkness that surrounds us all.

StereoViolet is Bianca B. Black (Vocals), Armand Frigo (Guitar), Brian “Lando” Landreth (Guitar/Keys), Bryan “Gonzo” Gonzalez (Bass), and Jesus “Chuy” Zarate (Drums). StereoViolet is managed and represented by The Wrecking Co. THE RISE AND FALL OF O’REN BLACK, the band’s debut full-length album, was released on April 2017

Anastasia Chatzka

Anastasia is an American designer, creating a heritage level Collection one year at a time. Chicago-based fashion designer Anastasia Chatzka was born and raised in Detroit. Those early years spent exploring the expansive Detroit music & art scene helped shape the womenswear designer she is today. Rich colors/prints and textures are woven into the DNA that is recognizably an Anastasia garment. She is most known for her fun flirty dresses and separates – coining the term #soanastasia.

After college and honing her skills with designers like Betsey Johnson & Anna Sui Anastasia decided that it was time to start her own clothing line called: Anastasia. The Anastasia brand consists of fun, feminine, and cutting edge ready-to-wear and custom made designs. Anastasia is truly a lifestyle brand; her collections encompass everything from ball gowns to intimates.

A primary focus of the brand is domestic manufacturing – Made in America. The Collections are currently produced in Chicago with the finest artisans with more then 30 years of cutting & sewing experience. The Anastasia Collection(s) are designed and constructed to endure season after season of enjoyment.

Anastasia has her eponymous boutique in Chicago. Her Atelier is located in Ukrainian Village housed within her boutique.
